The Election Commission has the power after September 10 to take action regarding the Presidential election

Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya says that the Election Commission will be empowered after 10th September to take necessary steps for the Presidential Election. He further stated that after that date, steps will be taken to call for nominations and other activities related to the presidential election.

According to political sources, the upcoming presidential election will be held on the last week of November.

A meeting between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and former President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
